Course Director
The Ontario Long Term Care Clinicians are seeking a Course Director to oversee the mandatory Medical Director Course and Refresher Course, with the potential to include responsibility for additional educational offerings. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Course Director oversees all aspects of the Medical Director Course, ensuring its alignment with legislative requirements, continuous quality improvement, and accreditation standards. This is a contract position.

• Location: Home office with onsite course delivery in GTA and may involve traveling if required to deliver course offerings.
• Reporting Structure: Reports to the OLTCC Board of Directors.
• Contract Salary: Based on experience and starting at 2 days per week, extending the days if required as more courses are offered.

THE COURSE DIRECTOR WILL: Work in collaboration with the Education Committee Chair and the Medical Director Course Chair and Committee to:
• Support, develop, and coordinate delivery of OLTCC’s Medical Director Course with the potential to grow to include other educational courses, curricula and materials.
• Review content for consistency, accuracy, and ensure material is up to date with legislative and regulatory changes.
• Source, secure and support speakers and facilitators.
• Guide, lead and administer the delivery of the course.
• Research and develop new educational content, as needed.

• The initial focus will be on the mandatory Medical Director Course and Refresher Course, to support all aspects of development, updating and delivery of the course.
• Recruit and onboard a pool of educational faculty and facilitators.
• Regularly evaluate and adjust course curriculum as needed.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest legislative changes and additions in Long-Term Care.
• Develop and implement educational standards and curricula.
• Monitor the effectiveness of the educational content and delivery and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
• Set goals, establish policies, and coordinate the educational activities in line with OLTCC’s Vision and Mission.
• Assess and report to the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Committee Chairs.
• Serve as the bridge between the Committees and the Board of Directors.
• Work with the Board of Directors and stated committees on developing and implementing educational strategies and policies.
• Coordinate with the Committees Chairs to align and achieve educational objectives.
• In future, oversee the planning and execution of any new curricula and courses. Key Responsibilities:
1. Course Organization and Supervision:
o Collaborate with the Chair, Medical Director Course Committee (MDCD), Education Committee, and Events in Sync, Inc. (EIS) to develop and manage the course schedule.
o Supervise all aspects of course execution, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to established timelines.
2. Curriculum Development:
o Determine course objectives and content in consultation with the MDCD, Education Committee, and Board approval.
o Continuously evaluate and update curriculum to align with the evolving needs assessment and Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) legislative requirements.
3. Faculty Management:
o Liaise with facilitators and presenters (faculty) to ensure effective preparation and delivery of course content.
o Assess teaching quality through evaluations and provide feedback for improvement.
4. Course Materials Management:
o In conjunction with Events In Sync, Inc., oversee the management of course materials including manuals, presentations, case studies, and resources.
o Ensure availability and accessibility of updated materials for course participants.
5. Evaluation and Quality Improvement:
o Review course evaluations to identify areas for improvement and inform future course enhancements.
o Engage in continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance course content, delivery, and participant experience.
6. Accreditation and Compliance:
o Complete the annual CFPC CPD accreditation application, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and requirements, in conjunction with EIS.
o Work with EIS to fulfill legislative reporting requirements, providing documentation of course objectives, participant attendance, and cost breakdown to MLTC.
o Work with EIS to manage budget and reporting to the Ministry of Long-Term Care
7. Data Analysis and Research Support:
o Provide support to OLTCC and the Education Committee in conducting data analysis, research, and evaluation reports related to the Medical Director Course.
o Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify areas for research and improvement in long-term care education.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Administration or related field, with a preference for a Master’s degree.
• Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and educational program management.
• Knowledge of Long-Term Care policies, regulations, and legislative requirements.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Skills to guide and lead a team of teachers, facilitators, and administrative staff.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with accreditation processes and compliance.
• Analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of course offerings
• Problem solving skills to address any challenges that may arise.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development.
• Knowledge of latest educational technology and teaching methodologies.
